Hammonton, NJ (September 21, 2017). The Historical Society of Hammonton invites the public to a community program to be held Thursday, October 5th, 8:00 PM at the Canoe Club, Lake Park, Hammonton. Programs are free, provided as a service to the community. There is no requirement to be a member of HSH to attend. The program is videoed and a copy is placed in our archives so that current and future generations will be provided with a snapshot of Hammonton’s past.
Our program for the evening will be presented by John Bertman, Esq., a long-time Hammonton attorney who will celebrate his 85″ birthday on the night of presentation. John will relate stories of his life in Hammonton and his interaction with fellow attorneys.
ln the late 1950’s following graduation from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, John, with his late wife Arlene, settled in Hammonton. ln 2015, he was honored by the Atlantic County Bar Association for having practiced for more than 50 years in the county. At various times in his career, he has partnered with the late Sam Donio, and Ann Donio, the Honorable Nelson Johnson and Brian Howell.
His local activities have included serving 44 years on the Board of Directors of Kessler Memorial Hospital where he held the position of Chairman from 1997 to 2001. He also presided as Hammonton’s Municipal Court Judge from 1961 to 1971. Enjoy the evening with friends, HSH members and our speaker. Refreshments will be served prior to the program when there will also be an opportunity to express birthday wishes to our speaker.
