Upcoming Events

Two special events are being planned by HSH for December. A holiday luncheon for members and guests will be held during the first week of December in lieu of a Speaker Series event for the month.

All are invited to the Historical Society Children’s Mystery Book Sale, a part of Downtown Hammonton’s ‘Mistletoe Mart’ on Central and Vine Streets during the Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration on Saturday, December 3. The HSH book sale booth will be open before and throughout the event, featuring 300 gently used and new books for various age groups, 1-16 years. The books have been generously donated by members of the community. Priced between $1.00-$3.00, these books gain a ‘second-life’ and the opportunity to be appreciated by a new group of children.  Payment by cash, PayPal or Venmo.

All books have been examined, sanitized, and wrapped with festive ribbon and candy canes. Titles are indicated on removeable cards, making each a terrific, and inexpensive Christmas gift. The Historical Society hopes this unique event gives parents and children the opportunity to purchase some ‘mystery books’ at a fraction of their original price and spend quality time reading and enjoying together. All proceeds support the mission of HSH’s dedicated team of volunteers preserving Hammonton’s rich history contained in our historic Museum building, open Tuesdays 10-Noon and Saturdays 11-2.

Historical Society of Hammonton membership applications will be available during the event.  Annual memberships are $20 individual or $30 for a family membership.

The Speaker Series will resume on January 5, 2023 with a presentation by Nicole Umosello on the Umosello family and their contributions to our community. February 2, 2023 will feature the 25-yr history of The Hammonton Gazette with Editors Gabe Donio and Gina Rullo.

Funding has been made possible in part by the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of Cultural Affairs within the Department of State, through funds administered by the Atlantic County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.
