The Historical Society of Hammonton is proud to announce a special initiative to restore and display a rare piece of our town’s history—an 1856 Plan of Hammonton that predates the town’s incorporation. This artifact provides a fascinating glimpse into the early ideas for the layout and development of our community and serves as a link to our shared heritage.
The Plan of Hammonton is in need of professional restoration to preserve its condition and prepare it for public display. Once restored, we plan to display the artifact prominently in Hammonton Town Hall, where residents, visitors, and future generations can enjoy it for years to come.
Why This Project Matters
Hammonton has a rich history, and this item is one of the few surviving artifacts from the town’s formative years. Restoring and displaying it is not just about preserving an artifact, but about keeping our community connected to its roots. By supporting this restoration, you’re playing a key role in preserving Hammonton’s legacy and ensuring that this important piece of history is not lost.
Our Goal
We need to raise approximately $6,000 to complete the restoration and cover the costs of framing and displaying this artifact. To achieve this, we are seeking contributions from local businesses, organizations, and community members through a sponsorship program. Sponsors will receive lasting recognition for their generosity through permanent placement on a plaque displayed alongside the restored artifact in Town Hall.
